Yesterday I got to photograph one of my favorite DJs in New York City, Ben Brock. Turns out as I got to know him a little better, he’s a lot more than just a DJ. Nonetheless he will always be “Ben the DJ” to me. I couldn’t resist the mechanical horse! These are my 4 favorites – Would love to hear which one is your favorite…

Impressive work. My favorite? Hard struggle between the first two, both very strong even if for different reasons. Color and feeling of the first is great; skin tone, eyes and contrasts in the second make for a “punching” picture.
If I’d really have to choose, I’d say the first, but just for my personal preference for environmental portraits over portraits on seamless.
Thanks for sharing, Miller! ;)

Great stuff Miller! I’d have to say the second one. Love the craziness of his hair!

The second one is the dopest! :) Besides the first one is even good but i don’t like the box in front of his leg.
Best!

I generally love your stuff but hope you don’t mind if i be a little critical.. I much prefer positive feedback myself so please forgive me.. Too much clutter in the first photo and my eyes wonder around too much. The yellow horse is too prominent and the yellow draws you into the horse which is a distraction in my mind from the real subject. His legs are getting tied up with the horses’ too and no lines to draw in my attention. Pose? It’s boring. Let him spin a record (like a basketball player spinning the ball on his fingers? Ride the horse like a rodeo??? something. Lighting.. nothing special here and the shadows annoy me because i can see that it has been lit. Needs to be more discreet. You don’t need to post my comments but I can’t help giving my two cents. Love all your previous stuff where you are pushing harder. G
